They're also available with two powertrains: the 5.7-liter HEMI® (3500 only) and the proven, commercial grade 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel; three transmissions: 6-speed manual (diesel only), 5-speed automatic (gas) and 6-speed automatic (diesel), and a choice of two- or four-wheel drive.
Performance
The 2011 Dodge RAM 3500 HD Chassis for sale in Bastrop will have a choice of Hemi or Cummins diesel, with a base weight of 5,913 - 7,474 lb. Diesel adds around 700 lb to base models, and 4×4 adds 200 lb; increasing capability and the crew cab account for the rest of the spread. Ram 4500 and 5500 has a standard diesel. Thanks partly to a new six-speed transmission; chassis cab gas mileage is optimal.
Transmission Choices
Ram Chassis Cab offers a variety of engine and transmission combinations so you can configure a powertrain that meets your needs. New for 2011, the automatic transmissions feature Electronic Range Select (ERS) and Tow/Haul mode.
Electronic Range Select (ERS) allows the driver to manually limit the highest available transmission gear, thereby allowing manual upshifts and downshifts based on road speed and engine speed.
Tow / Haul mode improves vehicle performance and fuel economy while minimizing engine noise during trailer towing or heavy-load hauling. When Tow / Haul mode is selected, a revised shift schedule is used to provide more power and reduce transmission shift changes and "gear hunting." The Tow / Haul switch is located in the center stack of the instrument panel.
